TEHRAN (PEDEC) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has launched the first two Phases of West Karoun power plant via a virtual ceremony which was held today (on Monday, August 24, 2020) by means of videoconference.
Touraj Dehghani, CEO of PEDEC (Petroleum Engineering and development Company) addressing this video conference to launch the power plant presented a report on this project to the President and said: “This power plant consists of three units with 165 MW power generation capacity, of which the first two units, which are gas units, will be put into operation today, and inauguration of the third unit, which is a steam unit is underway. Besides, 200 km of power transmission and distribution line has been constructed inside West Karoun region.”
He stated that the investment made in construction of the power plant has been €320 million so far by MAPNA Group. Moreover, another €110 million has been invested by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) to lay the transmission lines and substations.
Dehghani said “the cluster is an important oil supply area to the country, adding continuation of production, processing and transportation of crude oil in the fields of this region requires a sustainable supply of electricity which is on the newly-built power plant.”
